Il 20 luglio Chester Bennington ( leader e front man della famosa band Linkin Park ) si è suicidato nella sua casa di Los Angeles. La notizia ha fatto il giro del mondo, scioccando tutto il mondo della musica. I Linkin Park,  hanno pubblicato una  lettera aperta dedicando queste parole a Chester.

 “Caro Chester, Abbiamo il cuore spezzato. Siamo scossi dal lutto, e né noi né le nostre famiglie riescono ad accettare quello che è successo. Hai cambiato moltissime vite, forse più di quanto pensassi. Negli ultimi giorni siamo stati sommersi dall’amore e dal supporto, sia pubblico che privato, che è arrivato da ogni parte del mondo. Talinda e la famiglia lo apprezzano molto, e vogliono che tutti sappiano che eri un marito, padre e figlio fantastico. Niente sarà più lo stesso senza di te. Il tuo entusiasmo era contagioso. La tua assenza lascia un vuoto che non colmeremo mai – ci manca la tua presenza turbolenta, divertente, ambiziosa, creativa, dolce e generosa. Ci sforzeremo di ricordare che i demoni che ti hanno portato via sono sempre stati tra di noi. Il modo in cui cantavi dei tuoi problemi ha fatto innamorare tutti della tua musica. Hai messo in mostra i tuoi demoni e ci hai insegnato a essere più umani. Avevi un cuore gigantesco e non te ne vantavi mai.Amiamo scrivere e suonare dal vivo, questo non cambierà mai. Non sappiamo dove ci porterà il futuro, ma siamo sicuri che le nostre vite sono migliori grazie a te. Grazie per questo regalo. Ti vogliamo bene, e ci mancherai da morire. Our hearts are broken. The shockwaves of grief and denial are still sweeping through our family as we come to grips with what has happened. You touched so many lives, maybe even more than you realized. In the past few days, we’ve seen an outpouring of love and support, both public and private, from around the world. Talinda and the family appreciate it, and want the world to know that you were the best husband, son, and father; the family will never be whole without you. Talking with you about the years ahead together, your excitement was infectious. Your absence leaves a void that can never be filled—a boisterous, funny, ambitious, creative, kind, generous voice in the room is missing. We’re trying to remind ourselves that the demons who took you away from us were always part of the deal. After all, it was the way you sang about those demons that made everyone fall in love with you in the first place. You fearlessly put them on display, and in doing so, brought us together and taught us to be more human. You had the biggest heart, and managed to wear it on your sleeve. Our love for making and performing music is inextinguishable. While we don’t know what path our future may take, we know that each of our lives was made better by you. Thank you for that gift.
