In his shots and videos he catches the viewer’s attention. The city of Liverpool is portrayed under a new perspective that makes his work undoubtedly unique and charming , today in our webzine we’re glad to have a chat with Christoper law also known as Snackophagus.

N: Present yourself
My name is Christopher Law and Im a photographer, designer and film maker from Liverpool in the UK. Online you’ll find me using the name Snackophagus.

N: Cinema and photography, your vision..
I’ve always been interested in images that tell a story. My first love is cinema. There’s something almost magical about its ability to remove you from reality and take you on a journey. More resonantly I’ve become interested in photography. I love dramatic photographs. My aim is to get an emotional response from the viewer. I like the challenge of showing a familiar place in a new way. I’m not so interested in capturing the reality of a place, I like to try and twist the viewers ideas of a place, to see it in a new light.

N: Liverpool, your city
Liverpool’s an interesting place. Being a port city it’s a eclectic mix of styles and cultures from all over the world but also has a strong self identity. People from Liverpool are proud of their city and have a down to earth attitude. It has a fantastic history, once being one of the richest cities in the world. All this makes it a wonderful place to photograph, the contrast between really grand and ornate architecture with more modern structures and design influences from around the world. Being on the west coast of the UK means we get our fair share of great sunsets too.

N: What’s the role of music in your job?
I like to listen to music when editing photograph’s but that’s just for fun. I guess it can play a part in getting into a creative mindset but it’s not something I’ve really evaluated, I just enjoy it. In film and video it’s a critical part. Picking the right music can make or break the film. It can also save something that’s not quite working . I’ve spent days searching for the right piece of music.I wish I could afford a composer for my projects, that would be super exciting and probably save a lot of time too.

N: 5 Artists you want to remember
Today I was listening to Public Enemy, Kid Rock and Prince. I’ve been influenced by so many different artists in so many different mediums and probably many more subconsciously. I’m always interested in hearing new music so if anyone wants to suggest some artist to me I’d be more than happy to take a listen. Some of my favourite local instagramers are @the.skywaspink @kitch147 @peterhugesphotography You can get a good idea what Liverpool is about through their photographs.

N: Where we can follow you
The main place to find me online is @snackophagus on Instagram and Twitter, in the future there’ll be a website too.

N: A journey or story you want to share with us
Every project you start is a journey to some extent. And like a lot of real journeys the best part of the creative journey is when you get to the end and look back at where you started from. There’s something cool about having an idea and bringing that idea into the real world – that it didn’t exist until you made it exist.

N: Link a Video you made

N: Present projects
I have two main projects I’m working on. One is the Snackophagus.com website because I get a lot of questions about photography and photo editing and it’s hard to give full answers to people over Twitter or Instagram. I’ll be able to answer some of the more common question and have some tutorials all in one place. The second is a dark comedy short film I’m working on about an artist’s search for inspiration.

N: Do you feel European?
I’d definitely describe myself as European, although I’m not sure what it feels like to be European, I only know what it feels like to be me. I feel lucky to have been born in Western Europe and the life it’s given me, and there’s so many more places in Europe I want to visit.

N: Promote nootempo.net and leave a “final” message in your style
Thanks for giving me the opportunity to spend some time talking about my passions. It’s cool to be reminded there’s like minded people out there who are willing to care for and protect creative talent. Take care.
