INTERVIEW. GANGALISTICS OUT SOON WITH A NEW VIDEO-SINGLE

No Rating

Music producer Gangalistics (Gabriele Ganga, Sassari – Sardinia) had a chat with us, in this small interview, about his new single video in the making. This new project was born as  follow up of  “The Illuminator”. The Italian artist who lives in the city of Liverpool and actively collaborates with Flub Lomax (Gianluca Ganga) who, besides being his brother is also an integral part of this new video production.

We know that you are busy in the production of a new single, can you share anything with us?

Sure! I immediately thought that “The Illuminator” deserved a sequel both in terms of sound and video, so this new “episode” will in fact be a sequel, a part 2 let’s say, at the same time it will have its own title and autonomy that it does not necessarily need the listener to know the previous one. Title is still secret. The sound and the style are Synthwave, this time I’ve used a lot more arpeggiators (which I am obsessed with lately) the lyrics as always have a deep, metaphorical meaning.

The music video will be directed by video-maker, photographer and illustrator Samuel Alexander Mills, the backstage shooting by Alyssa Walker, the makeup by Deena Nasser, starring Flub Lomax who is also coordinating and supervising all the creative process. It will be shoot between Liverpool, Snowdonia and Colwyn Bay in Wales. All produced by the Nootempo factory.

What inspires you most when you compose your music?

I always try to transform my visions into music, sometimes, I make my own story, like a movie, sometimes inspiration comes from a simple image, a memory from the past. I grew up in an era full of true emotions and visual suggestions to be transformed into music, I love sci-fi the mystery, old school thrillers. I remember that mechanical sound of the old VCRs that I used to put in the player to watch yet another rented b-movie of which I didn’t even know the plot, but the cover art was so cool, so I couldn’t help it and had to watch it. Everything comes from what I see or visualise in my mind, I try to transform that into sound, words.

How was the experience of “The Illuminator” video?

Amazing! Shooting the video with Dan Toole, running from one part to the other of the city (Liverpool) involving so many people in the cast and collaborators, seeing that everything worked out at the end despite all the difficulties you face when you are producing independently. The feedback from people was soo good from those who watched the video, heard the song, I have literally received dozens of messages, even private ones from people who live on the opposite side of the globe because of this single, not to mention the fact that it has been played repeatedly in different Radios in the Uk and US as well.

How you dealt with this long period of restrictions/lockdowns in the UK?

It was difficult, mostly psychologically, despite the fact that in the UK, compared to other European countries, they had a somewhat more relaxed approach to restrictions. Uncertainty, confusion but above all, fear is deleterious and this can be seen and will still be seen as a consequence on society. Fortunately I worked a lot, designed, produced in this period of total closure, so the music once again gave me a strong motivation.

Projects on your hard disk?

Apart from this sequel, I have another single and a duo Project with my brother, Flub Lomax, a collaboration with an Italian artist called AGA and others in progress here in the UK. Actually I also have a project for a documentary but it’s very early to talk about it!
